This morning we set off on another city exploration! The Natural History Museum in collaboration with SelgaCano brought Serpentine to the La Brea Tar Pits presented here as The Second Home Pavillion and we were there to check it out!

“Being inside of it, is what I imagine it’s like to be inside a rainbow…”

This interactive and completely immersive art sculpture was designed by Spanish architects, Lucia Cano and Jose Selgas. The sculpture is a collision of architecture, art and science. As you walk through the pavilions corridors, you are bathed in iridescent light. And as the light of day changes so does your experience within it. It is truly a marvel to behold. The kids had so much fun playing, running and exploring the ins and outs of this sculpture. Being inside of it, is what I imagine it’s like to be inside a rainbow. Second Home Pavilion was meant for everyone to enjoy. If you like rainbows and dream of color you should definitely put this at the top of your Los Angeles bucketlist!

My personal tip when visiting is just to be aware that it does get hot inside the pavilion. It is not air conditioned and might be unbearable in the coming 100+ degree heat of the summer. We visited in the morning and it was starting to heat up in the center. Plan your visits in the summer accordingly especially for your littles.

Second Home Serpentine Pavillion opens June 28, 2019 through November 24, 2019. It is located on the La Brea Tar Pits grounds, and it’s FREE!!! It is open 11 am to 7pm daily, open until 9pm on Fridays. You can reserve express tickets I will attach the link here for you!
