I couldn’t let 2019 go without a recap of the things we loved discovering in 2019! So, here is our “Best of 2019” list!
Places to go…
2019 was big for us in travel. We used to travel a lot before we had kids and when Vie came along we still managed some travel but, when the two littles came, it became more difficult. Not only because we were suddenly on one income, but also because traveling with two babies or toddlers seemed daunting. This year, I feel like we are getting our stride back! We visited Oklahoma City, New York, and even Walt Disney World! Here are our favorite places…
Oklahoma City Dodger Stadium – Rooting for our home team while away from home was an incredible experience! The stadium tour was incredible! So full of history and nostalgia for baseball. The feeling of standing on the field was like no other. The kids gained a new appreciation for baseball and our Dodgers!
New York – Getting out of town on a vacation without kids was definitely on the top of our list! We thought the day where the kids were big enough to leave would never happen. Thankfully we had a willing family ready to step in and watch them so Husbee and I could take a little getaway. It was a dream to be able to visit the Guggenheim and visit each art piece without distraction and at my own pace. Wandering through the streets and getting lost is something that I can highly recommend.
WDW – oh man! This is a whole post! More on Disney World coming soon!
At home in L.A …
Hollywood Pantages – There are so many things to do in L.A. at any given time. Our favorite thing this year has been collecting Playbills from the Hollywood Pantages Theatre. This family loves musicals and it has been so fun and a special treat to take Vie (our oldest daughter) along. The theatre is so iconic and beautifully ornate the sight of it never gets old. If theatre is your thing too, I highly recommend season passes or a mini package. Every show has been fantastic and a great way to spend time together.
Second Home Pavillion at the La Brea Tar Pits – An immersive art piece stationed right between the La Brea Tar Pits and LACMA. Created by SelgasCano it was truly impressive. I am hoping for more temporary art exhibits like this to come to L.A.
Six Taste Tours – Early in the year, my husband and I took a tour of downtown L.A. You’d think that for two natives we’d already know everything but, we were so wrong! Six Taste offers walking tours in different neighborhoods around Los Angeles, all offering history along with great places to eat. The history and the food that we tasted along the way, made us fall more in love with our city. We can’t wait to go on another tour this year!
Duffs Cake Mix – We were invited to try Duff’s Cake Mix new vegan options. I really fell in love with the concept of the shop. I have always loved decorating cakes, but baking… not so much. I loved that at Cake Mix, you can focus on the fun and none of the tedious things that come along with baking. You make the cake look pretty with guided steps and you don’t even have to worry about the baking or clean up! The kids had a blast decorating their cake and cupcakes! A great idea for celebrating mom and dad’s birthday with a special cake!
For the Kids …
PonyCycle – We had a very lucky year, but no day compared to the day the kids won their very own PonyCycle unicorn! Ever since that day, the kids ride through the house regally, atop a unicorn. This pony is what childhood dreams and memories are made of! This family will always remember the year everyone rode through the house on unicorn! I am even considering getting a second pony for Levi! I am just waiting for him to get a little taller for it. I don’t ever want to forget Zoe riding in on her unicorn to wake me in the morning.
Distroller USA – Back in November we were invited to Distroller World at the Glendale Galleria. Honestly, I had never heard of this place. I was surprised to find how fun and interactive the visit was. Think of those bear building places but with super cute alien dolls that are sent down to you from their Nerdle planet! The kids all thought it was the coolest place! The dolls are so cute that it is seriously hard just picking one! We came home with SEVEN! The kids are still asking to go back!
Svolta Scooters – Possibly the most used and user friendly toy in our house. These scooters are not only nice to look at they are SO INCREDIBLY user friendly. So much, my two year old was scooting in no time! These scooters roam through our house on a daily basis… YES I let them scoot through the house! I love that they each have their own to ride and race down the hallway on their Svolta scooters.
2019 was filled with so much fun and new discoveries. We can’t wait to see all the amazing things 2020 will bring!
