It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Just because we live in the city doesn’t mean you can’t do all those cliché Fall activities enjoyed by those in the country. In fact, I think L.A. does it better! During Fall, you can experience all 4 seasons in a single day. The mornings can be brisk and the afternoons can get hot! By nightfall you’ll be reaching for that sweater again! So dress in layers and grab something pumpkin spiced as you go off on your fall festive adventures in and around L.A. Here is a round-up of our favorite Fall L.A. haunts.
Spadena House
Located on the corner of Walden Drive and Carmelita Avenue, the storybook-esque house was built in the early 1900s for a Hollywood silent film. Now, it is one of L.A.’s most recognizable private homes. The house makes a fantastic spooky background for your fall costume photos. This house is quite popular so beware of crowds on the weekends. Enter “Spadena House” in your maps for directions.
Pumpkin Patchin’
There are many pumpkin patches all over L.A. that pop up for the season. There are some outside L.A. that are actual farms where you can pick your pumpkin right off the vine. Our favorites for those experiences are Tanaka Farms in O.C. and Underwood Farms in Moorpark. Both great options but if you want to talk about the quintessential L.A. pumpkin patch experience, put on your farm shoes, that you know are just for looks and head over to Mr. Bones pumpkin patch. There is not a better place to see and be seen! They have great activities for the kids like face painting, bounce houses, petting zoo, pumpkin painting and great photo ops! Who knows, you might even spy a celebrity during your visit! Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch is located in Culver City and opens October 7th and is only open through October 30th. Tickets do sell out so buy your tickets in advance here.
Halloween Horror Nights
Have the bejesus scared out of you at Halloween Horror Nights only at Universal Studios. We all know Universal knows movies and special effects. Their frightening Halloween party is going on select nights September 8th – October 31st. Universal Studios has truly out done themselves this year with 8 haunted houses, the Terror Tram, various scare zones and so much more! I wouldn’t go alone if I was you! This event may be too intense for young children and not recommended for kids under 13. You can find tickets here – if you dare!
Hollywood Forever Cemetery
Can you think of something spookier than hanging in a cemetery at night? Only in L.A. can you rub elbows with famous tombstones and maybe a ghost or two while catching your favorite film on the silver screen! Check out Hollywood Forever movie lineup and catch a movie. There are D.J.’s and food trucks so you won’t be alone if you’re scared! The highlight of the season is the Dia De Los Muertos festival day and noche tickets do and will sell out! Grab them early and grab them fast!
Pear picking at Bloom Ranch
Pick Bartlett pears this fall at Bloom Ranch! My kids love pears and they had so much fun picking them by the bucket full at Bloom Ranch. Bloom ranch is located in Acton, just outside of L.A. County but it’s worth the drive to spend a few hours among the rows of pear and peach trees. If you visit early in the season you can even catch the tail end of peach season! This is also a great location for Fall photos! I love that it’s a little different from apple picking. Visit their IG here for updated harvest and store hours.
