There is one thing I can count on every year in our garden, an over abundance of figs! When we moved in to the house the only tree in the yard that produced anything (and wasn’t dead) was this huge fig tree. At first the figs were small but with a little TLC ( and water!) The fig tree quickly perked up and now over produces figs through the summer and into early fall. The bad news is that my family doesn’t really like the fruit! I do my part but I can only eat so much! I have some frozen from last years harvest and this year the figs have over taken us once again. We were at the Hollywood Bowl the other day enjoying a nice charcuterie board and I noticed that along with the dried apricots there were dehydrated figs. I also noticed that my husband quickly ate them all and left me ONE. One fig that I couldn’t stop thinking about! So sweet and so simple. The perfect addition to any charcuterie or even just as a handy snack! As a bonus, my husband loved them! I did some research and came up with this recipe that is Paleo and W30 friendly and can be done without a fancy dehydrator!
Dehydrated Figs
Ingredients
- 1 lb Figs (or more!) Extra Ripe
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200 degrees.
- Wash and slice off the tops. Cut figs in half or if they are very large, cut in quarters, as long as they end up about the same size.
- Line a sheet pan with foil and lay cut side up.
- Bake at 200 degrees for 6 hours.
Notes
Here’s a quick video on my process…

Dehydrating will prolong your harvest so you can enjoy figs a few weeks longer.
Enjoy the bounties of summer!
